I know many of you are either going full blast with your gardens, keeping summer busy with the kids or heading out on vacation! I HOPE to head to the beach soon with Sara and the hubs. We live only 2 hours away but its been almost 2 years since we've been! I L9VE going to the gulf coast aquarium and sometimes we friend another hour to get the gulf coast and watch manatees inland waters or ospreys along the coast! Sometimes we get lucky and see sea turtles!! I love both the mountains and the beach!!

Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5". Artist Trading Cards are the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). Alternately you may choose to use a round ATC Coin of 2.5" diameter. They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance.
Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vanci Stirnemann. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. In 1997 he created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. The movement took off, and today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world!
You can make ATCs with many different media including paper, fabric, felt, metal, wood, clay, paint, stamps, embellishments and more. There are tons of ideas and inspiration available online if you google ATC or Artist Trading Cards.

Hey Terri! Truly our atc's did cross paths! I got yours this morning. I love the footprints in the sand poem as well as Mother Theresa 's quote on the back. Teaching 5/6th graders will certainly keep you young my friend! :) Thank you for the beautiful atc, the tea and lemonade!!

Oh my Jill how awesome! I love it!! I also did not know sea glass was called mermaid tears! Learn something new every dsy! I used to collect all the time when we'd go to the beach but I think many others love sea glass as much as me and pick it up. It has tone a pretty secluded beach for me to find anything!! I'm so happy the swap makes you guys jappy! You are all so creative and gifted!! Thanks for joining!!

Oh Jill the ATC’s arrived today, thank you sooooooo much I love them. I have been collecting sea glass for years, they are so special. I have not found any yet in this area of the Pacific, but I will. I did not know that they are called mermaid tears, thank you for sending along the write up about them. It has been a sad day for me and your package made me happy, so thank you Farmgirl Sister.

I forgot the sand. Grrr. I was so focusing on the mermaid I forgot to put the sand at the bottom before the ahells. I'm so glad you like it Terri. I know you said yours was coming, as soon as I receive it I'll post. The po system has gone wonky on us!! ;)

This is the ATC from Dianna. It is beautiful. I had focused on the lower section of the card for a bit. The next time I looked at it I discovered the mermaid swimming off the card.

I got treasure-- Wanda sent me TWO cards! I love them both but the hand painted/drawn one is amazing. I have always wished I could draw and paint but everything I try looks not much different than what I did in second grade. Abstract seems to be my talent. The last time I was at Hobby Lobby I found a book on how to draw flowers so maybe that will help.

Judith I love the beach ATC card with the tiny embellishments. The background looks like it
was taken with a drone at high noon because there are no side shadows.
Who would have thought that a pic like that would be artistry in itself with
such a variety of umbrellas.
Also, her note was written on a card created by Dianna which is so beautiful!!
