I forget where we talked about Pantaloons~bloomers, recently.. but I did find the pattern I had bought several years ago.. and go figure I found the fabric too!
Boy, talk about a UFO!!!

I stuck a piece of red paper so you can see the eyelet fabric better...

now to 'get around' to making them...

You can wear them under a skirt or dress, or anymore you can just wear them by themselves. They would be really cute with a chemise top on a hot summer day. Now that we're all staying home and not expecting company we can wear anything (or nothing) that we want.

What could we wear with them, Winnie? I'd love something like that.

I'm starting to feel like I really missed out by never experiencing bloomers!

I know I have bloomers and a fancy petticoat in a box of rendezvous clothes up in the garage somewhere but it is so hot and messy out there it will be faster for me to make them than to try and find them. They are from about 25 years ago and probably wouldn't fit me anymore anyway.

OK,, not the best photo,, but I dug up my old pantaloons/bloomers from a outfit I made a gazillion years ago.. I found the skirt, petticoat and bloomers, but darn if I can find the top/blouse...uugh!
They have seen better days and been loaned out often,, I need to do some repairs on the skirt

Those pantaloons are so fun!! I wish I had something I could wear with them because I totally love that vintage vibe! Grace, you should make a pair for a glamping outfit that you could pair them with. MaryJane used to offer a pattern as well on her products website and a photo of Meg and someone else wearing them has been in previous magazines.

I need to find a good pantaloon pattern! Mine are wearing thin and I wear them beneath everything from reenacting dresses to my longer every day skirts. I love the historical patterns, but most seem to stop just shy of the size I need. :(

Love those patterns. What does the fabric look like for the dress Grace?

I love the idea of copying pattern covers. Now if I only had a sewing room to decorate....

One of the things I use to do,, I would photo copy the sleeve/jacket/envelope that vtg patterns came in,, and decopauge' them onto boxes, clip boards etc..
Haven't done any in a long time..
Here is one of my 'hanging 'object d'Art...

Grace I have that pattern or my daughter does. She made a similar pattern( I don't know the number) in white for her birthday party one year. It was a sailor type collar with blue piping on it. We had a Victorian tea. She also made a skirt for me and one for her sister to wear. I believe she was 17 that year. The year was 2000.

I have some patterns from JT's aunt. They are from they 50's when she was in high school. Some of the bags are torn but for the most part the patterns are intact.

There are several of those patterns on Amazon and a LOT on eBay. I have a scrubs pattern and really, a drawstring loose pant is all that bloomer pattern is. I can probably use it and make bloomers. LOL!

You and I were talking about it, Grace. MJF used to sell them, and they were not cheap. They are not on the website for sale any more, at least I can't find them. They probably didn't sell very many pair.

I want to look for that pattern, too. Love the bloomers, but I'd put elastic around the lower leg with a lace ruffle. I love the nightgown.

I have 2 Retro patterns - suit patterns from 1946 nd 1948, I think. I was born in 1947. LOL! Never made either one.

Denise,, Yeppers! I found a couple of the 'Retro' series (1950's) patterns in my stash...
I even found a late 1800's pioneer dress pattern (retro-history) and the 10yds of fabric I bought to make the dress..
Good grief, I have had these since before 2007 !!!
I realy need to get back into sewing!!! lol!

Grace, I love the history patterns. I have a few around here somewhere. I know at least one has a pattern for pantaloons. Theyd be great for summer sleeping.
