Thank you everyone for your prayers. My son has thankfully been unharmed so far. He is unfortunately quite experienced in dealing with gangs since he works in a very high crime town. My town was looted Monday night after a second protest. The first one on the weekend was very peaceful and no problems, but it was held outside of the downtown area in a park. This second one was peaceful until the protestors were breaking up and the thugs took over. Our mayor had issued a curfew from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. At precisely 6 a.m. Tuesday morning 700 citizens from our town arrived armed with brooms, buckets, dust pans, and garbage bags. By 7 a.m. they had cleaned up all the broken glass, overturned flower planters & garbage cans, and helped shopkeepers and restaurants owners clean the inside smashed glass from thrown bricks. A couple stores were looted but our police department made multiple arrests and two armored vehicles helped keep the looters away from half the businesses. I was very proud and glad to see how our citizens came together and took our town back. It is terrible how these looters are following each protest to loot and destroy. I pray no one else gets hurts and that this time serious changes will finally be made in this country.

Praying for peace for all,
Dawn in IL

Praying for you son Dawn. I lived most of my life in Cicero. Was watching live videos some were posting and listening to the police radio. (My uncle was a police man there for many years) It was heartbreaking. Hearing them pull officers out of hot spots because it became dangerous.

I was supposed to take my Mom back to Chicago on Monday but postponed because of all the riots & looting going on.

Adding my prayers for our nation for peace and resolution to this old issue of racial inequality that has been a thorn in our nation since we first started colonies and brought slaves to do the manual labor. We must move forward with reform and finally guarantee that all men and women are created equal and protected under the law as outlined in our US Constitution. But first we must have peace and openness to change. I am praying that our Nation will come together and create a more peaceful and better Union for all of us.

I am really feeling for my US neighbors. I cannot imagine such unrest even though Canada does have it's issues. Stay strong and like negativity, positivity can turn things around!

Cheers!!

Thank you Lisa and Nancy. My son is only getting a few hours of sleep per night/day since this whole thing began. The looters are well organized criminals and swoop down to destroy and rob, not protest. From what I've seen in IL, on the whole the protests have been peaceful and I pray their message is finally received and this never happens again.

We all need to be in prayer.

Looters could care less why they are doing it, just want free stuff. The media keeps calling them protestors. NOOO!!! They are rioters!
Bless your son Dawn. I hope he gets some good sleep and peace of mind. Hero!

Thank you Grace. He didn't get home until 2 a.m. this morning (started work the day before at noon). My son texted me he was okay but thoroughly disgusted with the looters. He had to get back on duty this morning at 7 a.m. and will not get off until midnight. It seems to have calmed down and hopefully this is the end of the lootering. The peaceful protesters were very respectful in our area and fortunately our town avoided problems. I pray that this is finally the end of all of this & that it never happens again.

Dawn, for sure,, wrapping your son and all LEO in prayers...
Spokane was in Riotous discord last night.. 5pm curfew,, yet a large number of the rioters continued to destroy buildings and property..,
The peaceful protesters had left about the time the mobs showed up...

Our Nation needs calmness,,, forgiveness and prayers...

I watched the Salt Lake City riots on TV the other night. I went to bed crying and praying for the future of our nation and it's youth. I am praying for those who are being persecuted and those who are trying to keep the masses safe from our human-ness. Mostly, I pray that God won't just roll His eyes and say "Alright, that's enough." and blow us all up. Sorry for the snarkiness....I go there when I don't know where else to go.

I to pray for our country, but I am also requesting prayers for my oldest son who is a police officer. He is working double time through this trying time to help keep the peace here in IL. Please pray for all those who are trying to do their best to calm things down before more lives are lost.
