Posted - May 12 2020 : 11:07:30 AM Glad you guys enjoyed that. Judith, I remember those pamphlets. So helpful, unlike what we get now. I had this one pop up today, it looks hilarious, but I haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing. Almost like a sitcom episode, and it features Margaret Hamilton, who played Mrs Gulch/ Wicked Witch on Wizard of Oz. Titled: DINNER AT 6 " 1946 WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC APPLIANCE OVENS & RANGE PROMOTIONAL FILM 68484 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBWfJh1xwFM

Posted - May 03 2020 : 4:02:35 PM The government used to do a lot of helpful things for us citizen/consumers. I remember my parents having a stack of pamphlets from the government printing office about all kinds of things -- building chicken coops, planting vegetables, child care, canning, etc, etc. I still have a couple of them; one is how to cure olives. Maybe someday I will try it.

Posted - May 03 2020 : 11:21:29 AM Lisa, I watched this video and it was just awesome!! Thank-you so much for sharing it too. I would love to have that kitchen shown in the example because I love how perfectly everything was thought out for efficient cooking. The way it was laid out and storage was provided just made perfect sense to me. I plan to watch it again and take notes because I think I might be able to make a few changes in my own kitchen that would be useful.
Sara, I thought about the Hoosier too when I watched the video. My Grandmother had one in her old farmhouse and I always loved it. Today, I would still consider owning one because I just love the vintage feel of them and also their convenience to cooking. I make things like breads, pies, and cookies for special occasions, and Hoosier would eliminate my having to take the flour, sugar, handspikes down from shelves every time I need them for a recipe.
Thanks again Lisa for this great video!

Posted - May 03 2020 : 07:17:20 AM WOW!! That was one organized kitchen !! I actually loved a lot of it. Talk about a place for everything. I think that design was brilliant. I liked the organization of it. I loved the stove. Talk about top of the line for everything. My mom would of been in total heavan in that kitchen! I think I will borrow some of the storage idea from it. Thanks Lisa I really enjoyed that so much.

Posted - May 03 2020 : 05:49:18 AM The baking center reminds me of Hoosier cabinets. If I had room in my kitchen I could set a Hoosier cabinet right in and have an up-to-date 19th century baking center. I'm not a baker but I've always wanted a Hoosier cabinet with flour and smaller bins.

Posted - May 02 2020 : 06:50:45 AM Oh my Lisa, I want one of those. Love all the handy tips and storage bins. And it made me start thinking on how I can arrange my kitchen to better suit how I do things. Some of the things I already do but there's so much more I can do. I saved it to my desktop so I can watch it over and over again.
