I just mailed my vote by mail ballot for the upcoming super Tuesday primary in Texas and other states. I vote by mail because I no longer drive and I'm also 77. If you are of age to vote by mail or have health issues that would enable you to vote by mail I strongly encourage you to do so. Texas makes it easy to do so - I don't know how other states do it. In Jan I go on-line and print out a vote by mail form and send it to the early voting clerk. That one form is good for the entire year and they send me the ballots as needed. I will automatically get my ballot to vote for president in Nov. You can also use the same form to request ballots for each election if you forget to do so at the first of the year.

I just voted yesterday. In my area they have electronic voting with this wheelie thingy in each booth. It took me a bit to figure out how to get the wheelie thingy to move to my selections. Hope I did it right? Reminded me of a dial up phone. Remember those?

VOTE, VOTE, VOTE anyway that works for you, but VOTE!! Remember that local elections are also very important and impact at lot of important issues where you live. So, city, county and STATE elections are very important to what impacts you the most in your everyday life. Even if you don’t like the choices, try to read up on who is running and choose the person most aligned with what makes sense to you. When you don’t vote, you are passively voting for someone you might totally disagree with. Voting is one of the issues that Americans should take seriously and value. And remember, it was not until 1920 that women were finally afforded the right to vote. That privilege came from women who sacrificed and were abused in prisons for us to have equal rights under the law. I think about their hard fought struggle every time I vote. We should never take our voting rights for granted. We also should support the right of every person, regardless of race, the right to legally vote as a US citizen. Be sure to check with your local elections office to make sure that you have the proper ID for voting or you will not be able to vote. As well, make sure if you vote by mail that your signature matches EXACTLY to what the elections office has on file. Any unreadable or incorrect spelling etc.could throw out your vote.

Here in our little area,, we vote by mail and add our own postage stamp or we can drop it off in the Ballet Box at our little Library .no need for postage.

Voting is a right and privledge,, It might not result as I would like but at least I make my voice heard.

Judith, if you drop it off on election day you can keep up your tradition of voting on that day. I like the idea of having the option to vote by mail not only for seniors or those with health issues but also for those that work twelve hour shifts or compute hours to work. The more options voters have the more they may be apt to vote. As long as the method is secured all options are good.

We are voting a little differently this year.I'm not sure if it is statewide or just Sacramento county. Instead of going to the polls on election day we receive a ballot in the mail. You fill it out and have the choice of mailing it, dropping it off at a local drop place (ours is the library or city hall), or taking it to the polls on election day. I'm not sure how I feel about this new method; it used to feel kind of special going to the polls on election day.

We always vote by mail for everything but the school board elections, there we have to do it in person. I feel if I don't vote I have no right to complain about the outcome.

Dawn, yes by all means vote.

Darlene, I'm with you about how important it is to vote in local and state elections as well as federal. One of the issues on the ballot was for Texas to allow prayer back into our schools. That one was a easy one for me.

Voting matters. Protect your right to do so. Depending on whom we elect, we may someday lose that right. Every vote counts. I also let my legislators
know what I think. You'd be surprised to hear them talking out of both sides of their mouths sometimes. We are trying to get our property taxes eliminated for
years. The one rep in our area always says he'll do anything to eliminate them. There's a bill that would eliminate the seniors taxes and he won't vote for
it unless everyone's taxes are eliminated. I told him then I wouldn't vote for him! Seniors are losing their homes because of the taxes. If the government doesn't get their houses, the nursing homes will! Don't get me started on that!
Vote!

Barbara,
I use to feel that way but then I thought if I didn't vote it would just give my vote to the candidate I didn't want so I starting getting out there and at least I can know I did what I felt was best.

Barbara - Never doubt the power of one voice. You may not be the only person who feels the way you do. When EVERYONE votes, amazing things happen! Maybe, if you really fee your vote doesn't matter, you could volunteer at your local party headquarters and help get the word out and show others something about your candidate that they don't know! Knowledge can truly effect change. Don't give up! Your voice DOES matter! Giving up only gives more power to others with whom you disagree. Hugs, Nini

Ladies---I would vote by mail---but there is no use to vote in West By God Virginia. What I think doesn't matter. The odds are against people like me.
