So my dh hates snakes, (though we have a pet one (dd’s) in an aquarium. It will go with her when she leaves the nest.)

I don’t LOVE them, and if it is a poisonous one I LOATHE it. That being said, they are pretty cool otherwise, and an important part of the ecosystem. Luckily, we do not really have poisonous ones where I live. The ones we do have are rare.

Yesterday, hubs was power washing the deck when I heard a scream. He almost stepped on this guy! On a sunny part of the stone wall, a snake kept poking his head out. Turns out he was trying to shed his skin. He/she is non-poisonous, and a good rodent deterrent. We got videos of the entire process...it is actually pretty cool. Reminds me of being in a dressing room and having tried on something too small.

If you’d like to see a clip of this beautiful specimen shedding, I put it on the Suburban Farmgirl Facebook page.

How do you feel about snakes? I really don’t mind them, as long as they are not poisonous and I SEE them.

My daughter’s pet corn snake is actually a sweetie.

Oh I am not a huge fan of spiders. I have a bad scar to prove it! But I still try to not disturb them since they are good beneficials.

So funny!!!!! I don't really mind snakes. They help keep mice away. It is funny to hear the screams though. I hate spiders. Let me tell you, I can scream when I see one of those.

He or she was a pretty big specimen, but if they snack on the mice, that is fine! We have mice and voles in our area because we are in the woods.

Omygosh how I laughed at the thought of your dh "screaming"!!! Living in the country here on 64 acres I've had my fair share of snake experiences! I tespect them for the most part. I leave them alone as long as they aren't aggresive, like the moccasins and copperheads. I've walked up with a foot of canebreak rattlers and they've never been aggresive so I let them go or tehone them. The ones I do eliminate are the aggresive ones because of pers and my daughter. Really they are good for the environment. I say all this with great respect for those who do fear them! I understand!! I have a great fear of clowns!! Good little clip you took!

I don't like snakes. They give me the heebie-jeebies! If they are enclosed in cages then I am just find looking at them. Otherwise they scare me. My hubby and my first house had a snake get in. It was on our living room carpet and blended in perfectly. I remember crying and calling him home from work to get it and take it outside! Lol he laughed so hard at me. Your a grave woman to let a snake live in your house!

LOL Sara! I laughed so hard. I would agree if I still lived in Texas!! I wouldn’t take the time to decide if it was poisonous or not!

Watched your video and it was interesting but must say all snakes are an endangered species if they cross mine or Annie's path.
