Looking to purchase this spinning wheel. Never spun before, but I do weave. The seller says it "all the moving parts move." Just not sure it's worth $60.00
What do you think?

Posted - Mar 14 2019 : 2:01:19 PM Upon further and closer inspection at the sellers house, the spinning wheel was found to be completely inoperable and at one junction broken. SIGH.
I'll still be looking to see if I can find an affordable one though. I want to advance my weaving skills to include spinning my own wool.

Posted - Mar 11 2019 : 5:57:37 PM Melody, you've helped me in more ways than you know!! I just recently found a spinning wheel also that I am interested in purchasing. The lady is kind and isn't sure how much to sell it for. I will take her this thread and let her read it and we can go from there. I don't want to under pay or overpay! You got a great deal! I shall keep you posted on my purchase! Thanks!

Posted - Mar 10 2019 : 6:29:10 PM the seller sent additional closeup snaps and I forwarded them to my MIL and my SIL who weave and spin --they said to snap it up. I just bought it a few minutes ago for 45.00. I am SO EXCITED! Now I can finally learn how to weave on my 4 harness Kessenich that I haven't touched since I bought my Union 36 Rag Rug loom 4 years ago--Package deal at a pre auction viewing-My MIL knew the lady who was having the auction. I am SO excited!

Posted - Mar 10 2019 : 2:16:29 PM Melody, I bought one a few years ago just like that one, but it was in better shape and was used up until I bought it. I paid $150.00 for it in the U.P. Gave it away when we moved to Florida. I would pay that now if I had the chance. Just make sure all the parts are there. Maybe have them try it for you?

Posted - Mar 10 2019 : 08:48:38 AM Hi Melody, Looked on eBay for pre-owned spinning wheels. If this one you are looking at works well you probably have a good deal. Question is would you use it enough to be worth the investment and the space?
I watched a video about spinning yarn on you tube. It was very interesting. There is something about making something from nature to product.
I like canning jams. I usually buy berries and can them. One year I took tomatoes and basil from my own garden and made a savory jam. It was awesome. Tasted great and I grew my own ingredients. I had a satisfaction that is hard to describe. I get asked a lot, why don't you just buy jam at the store. It is so much easier. I just shake my head and sigh.
If you decide to get the spinning wheel good luck in your adventure.
