In case you haven't heard I'll be organizing the monthly ATC swaps going forward. I'm looking forward to lots of friendship and fun! If you have any suggestions or fun ideas for swap themes please let me know. Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so for the month of February 2019 lets do a swap with the theme "SPREAD SOME LOVE". Make one ATC card for your partner using any colors or mediums that you wish. Be creative, try something new, and most of all have fun! Last chance to join - signups are open thru February 6th. Partners will be posted on February 7th. Mail out deadline will be February 21st. Hopefully this short but sweet schedule will allow for ATC's to be mailed and received by Valentines Day for those who wish to do so. For those who are new to ATC Cards here is what it's all about: Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5". Artist Trading Cards are the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance. Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vanci Stirnemann. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. In 1997 he created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. The movement took off, and today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world as well as right here on Mary Janes Farm! You can make ATCs with many different media including paper, fabric, felt, metal, wood, clay, paint, stamps, embellishments and more. There are tons of ideas and inspiration available online if you google ATC or Artist Trading Cards. Happy creating Farmgirls! Thanks for joining this swap! Kelly, I received your beautiful ATCs a couple days ago and finally had a minute to post a pic this morning. They are gorgeous! I love how the ribbon flowing behind Cupid makes it look like he's flying! So cute....thank you! Did everyone get their ATC card this month? Unfortunately Julie's is still stuck here waiting for the mailman....last night we had an ice storm so now we can't even get to the mailbox because of low hanging branches. Our power was off for 12 hours last night so I was up all night keeping a fire going to keep the house warm for my people and pets. Now that things have settled back down to normal it's time to go cozy up by the fire for an afternoon nap! Darlene....our golf course is actually quite hilly so there are lots of ups and downs. It was a nice morning and very peaceful until the kids started coming out to play with their sleds. The snow thawed out and froze again so Saturday was the only good ski day though. We got about 8 inches of snow yesterday so no mail. I went skiing on the golf course we live on this morning. It's so peaceful and beautiful. It was fun, the ATC turned out lovely - and I learned a thing or two about the Elna sewing machine I recently inherited from my Mom in the process. I can't wait to find out who my partner is so I can get it in the mail! Has anyone else been inspired to try something new with your ATC creativity this month? Are there any other Farmgirls out there who want to join our swap? The more the merrier....
