I saw this idea in a little booklet from 1999,,

how easy peasy is that???
you can make a set to store shoes in...
for knitting needles, hair clips, lil boy's hot wheel cars, and a catch all for all kinds of stuff, etc...
So before you toss out yours, hubby, kiddo's shirts,, re-cycle those sleeves and make assorted sized totes...

Simple works for me

Such a cute idea. Grace I'm with you - make it simple. I may put it on my to-do list. If I do I would embroider patches of fabric and sew the patches on with a running stitch without ripping the sleeve apart. Buttons & yo-yos could be easily added close to the top.

A shorter version of the tote would work for gift bags for home canned goodies. I like the idea they could be made to fit a particular gift.

A piece of patchwork on the tote would make a great Jubilee gift bag.

Theresa,
I have to laugh... the idea is so cute and practical... yet the instructions make it complicated...
Opening the sleeve, embroidering it and re-sewing it closed... then adding several bottom holes for the chince ribbon to be threaded through...

For me, all I want to do is secure stitch a piece of ribbon to chince up and tie the opening closed... No muss, No fuss!
(Tho I could add a couple of 'hole ' gromants to run the ribbon through...
