I was out in the barn and found the perfect piece for me to use in my furniture makeover. It is an old footstool that no longer has a cover on it and it looks pretty rough. It is sturdy and would make a perfect primitive looking footstool. I'm thinking about covering it with burlap and stenciling on it.

Many thanks to all the replies on the footstool. I will post a before picture and an after picture. I'm so excited about doing this project. I think it will be a stress relief for me.

YellowRose-Thank you for you response. I never thought of using velvet. That would add a rich tone to it.

Lori I am a fan of foot stools. They are so useful to have around. I have two on the side of my rocker that hold stacks of cookbooks and garden books. Nothing better than having your favorite books at your fingertips.

Burlap with stenciling is such a good idea for your footstool. I also like burlap with brown or red velvet - such a rich look.

You go Girl! I have always done things like this and my whole house is old furniture I have refinished except we finally bought a bedroom suite and don't you know I miss the old! None of my furniture is that good as we were poor and this was my grandparents old things---but what fun I have had with it and people that visit always comment on it. Also I love to buy at thrift shops and paint things---I use dark green. It gives you a unique house for sore. Eclectic I think it's called. Rock on and create and have fun. I used to until I got old and burdened by troubles. LOL.
