Posted - Jul 17 2018 : 04:57:11 AM Decided to change the name of my Etsy store after EIGHT years of selling vintage. Sales have been less than steller and I have decided to concentrate on selling my hand woven rag rugs, etc. instead.
Long Tall Sally's has been changed to:
"Matta" Hand Woven Rag Rugs
Here is the new link to my store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/mattawovenragrugs
Thank you ladies!

Posted - Aug 05 2018 : 7:25:07 PM Thank you Grace. Did a festival this weekend and a member of the arts council approached me to find out if I would like to place a few of my rag rugs in an exhibit in their lovely art center! And, a "scout" for a Mercantile in Grand Marais asked if I would like to sell my rugs in her friends store-my rugs, my pillows and my painted furniture. A LOT to think about!

Posted - Jul 17 2018 : 07:09:08 AM Thanks Melody, I just knew there had to be a story behind it. Love that you embrace your heritage and bring it into your life and home.
I'm mostly Irish and English so my decorating style is English cottage meets Texas farm house.

Posted - Jul 17 2018 : 07:02:30 AM My maiden name is Hoijer---with an umlaut over the "O" and the "J" is silent--Pronounced Who-yeah. My people arrived in Chicago at the turn of the century speaking NO english hailing from Vraka, Sweden. I've always loved my maiden name and what it stood for. I've incorporated it into my business cards as well. Swedish decor resounds in my house. Not the kitchy Dala horse Sweden, but a country cottage / Gustavian Sweden. I wanted to learn how to weave for a long time and thought wouldn't it be something if I brought my Swedish heritage into my crafting rag rugs? Matta means carpet in Swedish. My loom is named Una (old Norse Swedish meaning One-my first Loom! And my Kessenich loom-a 4 harness smaller loom is named Smula which is Swedish for "crumb!"
Grandma Dorothy would be so proud....
