06/19/18: One thing we did last year while glamping is my daughter read an Agatha Christie murder mystery novel over the week we were out. She read it out loud and then we tried to solve the mystery.

Well, we're doing the same thing this year, only at home and including my hubby who is really enjoying it.

This is my daughter, Robin, reading to us "old folks"

HI there farmgirls,
I'm sure you've probably heard about the TERRIBLE wildfires in southwest Colorado, near Durango. Well, that's my part of the world and as of this week the San Juan National Forest is CLOSED! CLOSED!!! ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRY! NO camping (or glamping), NO hiking, no biking . . . NOTHING!!! Sooooo, that means that my daughter and I have to cancel our glamping trip which was supposed to start Friday for a week!!!

She is here now and we've had to watch the smoke rise and make pyrocummulus cloud, breathe and smell the smoke and make other plans for things we can do.

The San Juan National Forest is 1.8 million acres and we would have to drive over 75-100 miles in either direction to be in another area. HOWEVER, conditions are the same in all the southwest so we'd probably just be going from one terrible situation to another.

We are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED! However, we are more concerned for the people who have been evacuated, for firefighters and other personnel . . . and for our beautiful forests and State of Colorado!

PLEASE PRAY FOR RAIN FOR US!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
CJ

I was going to ask if you had any rain. We got a pretty good amount yesterday and I know we don't live to far away. So I was hoping you received some of the rain. I'm happy the rains made it to you.

THANK YOU ALL FARMGIRLS!
We got very good rains over the past 2-3 days but the seriousness of the drought situation, fire hazards and dangers are still VERY REAL!!
Robin and I have been finding all kinds of things to do . . .
HUGS TO ALL!

Oh gosh, CJ, how awful and scary. You have had so much this year. We have, too. It’s like 2018 is an ‘off’ year for everyone. Much love your way.

Oh CJ, how sad. I hope you guys get some rain soon and that you and your daughter can come up with some fun plans. Keep us posted on the fires and your adventures with your daughter!

Oh, we're making lemonade out of the lemon, trust me! Robin and I are very good at coming up with alternative plan! :D

Didn't mean to sound like I don't care. I do and my reply is on the prayers site. But do just keep on going on---it is all you can do.

Cj, I have friends that live with in a hours drive of the fires... and tho not in the direct path,,, the smoke from the fires has spread out all over... Sandi, said where she is, the pine beetle has killed off a large portion of the trees..making it even worse as the trees go up in flames like a match stick!
poor air quality from the smoke makes it horrible for folks with respitory issues.
prayers for all the people trying to put out these fires and to the poor people who are victims of the fire.

So sorry---but so many of the things we want to do often get put off by pressing issues. Why not just glamp on your property at home? It is still fun. We are going to out three tenths a mile away cabin tonight and it is great fun. Try it and make lemonade out of your lemon. God bless you.

CeeJay, this is horrible news for your area of the state!! Wildfires are so devastating and we are just in the early part of June. Sorry that your fun camping trip was cancelled too. Will be praying for all of those affected by these awful fires and that some rains will come soon to the area for relief.
