Hi there! I'm new around here. My name is Poet & living near the Blue Ridge in Virginia. I've been reading my Abuela's older copies of MJF that she has & it sparked my interest in the site -- and i'm soon going to be subscribing myself. And maybe even join the Farmgirl Sisterhood.

Now to move my little blurb to farming; my girlfriend & I are planning on starting to homestead on some family property. We are vegans, so we aren't planning on having animals as much as I would love to have a pet pig again. We live in midtown of our city, the rules here are a little strange. I know we could have chickens/roosters if we wanted. We are working towards starting an all vegan/pagan business of teas, body care, and other various all natural items. I am not new to farming or gardening but my girlfriend is. So it's been fun showing her how things go & how to get messy.

I'm hoping that joining the forum will help me with any weird questions or inspirations for our little homestead.

Welcome Poet! What a lovely name. Is there a story behind how your parents came up with it for you? I'd love to hear it if there is.

Hi Poet! I am new to MJF too. Homesteading is a lot of hard work and I wish you the best. We have been on our farm twenty years---built everything that is here. We have come a long way, but the work never seems to end. Still it is so rewarding to do so much for yourself and not be so dependent on the modern way of life. Good luck to you.
