This is a bit of a spinoff of my BOM post...... I would like to host a crochet challenge in 2018, mostly to get myself hooking again!! I have several ideas for how this could go but want to know which one(s) people would actually be interested in.....so please comment with which theme or themes you might want to participate in if I host and I’ll go from there.

Crochet block of the month (we can take turns choosing a pattern from ravelry)
One skein wonders-all the same (we pick a specific one skein pattern each month and all make that item)
One skein wonders - your choice (you make any one skein pattern you want and share your accomplishment, knitters could participate in this)
Amigurimi/stuffed toy of the month - I have a thing for crochet toys and amigurimi so thought this might be fun same as above we would take turns picking a pattern or two from ravelry
If you like to crochet with thread we could do a snowflake (check out snowcatcher.org) or doily.
We can also combine some of these ideas and do something totally different each time!

Thoughts? I’m open to other suggestions too!

Oh and Ruthie, I told my daughter about the temperature afghan and she wants to try! So I'll probably put pics of her progress in our monthly challenge thread!

Yes, Debbie. Online at halfpricebooks.com. When you first get on the website there is a large 40% off 1 item or 20% off entire order sign. I just ordered my book.

I think your plan sounds great! I'm excited to have some choices. Are we doing a January one? Or waiting tell next month?

Linda online where? Half price books?

Deb, no pressure, just do what you want when you can and share it! If you don’t finish a project in a specific month just roll it to the next month!!

Sabrina - yes. There are quite a few free patterns on the Internet. I’m going to go to half-price books this weekend maybe and see if they have the big book of granny squares ; it has 365 in it. They have it online, and there is a 40 percent off coupon. So I could get a brand new book for $12 plus shipping. I just thought I would see if I could find it cheaper at the store.

Ruthie, doing it in lines might be more doable, she did small squares for each day. Maybe I’ll try it some day, love the idea just don’t think I can keep up right now! Maybe next time hubby deploys!

Yes Linda, a big scrappy granny square Afghan is what I’m going for! That book sounds awesome. I have another book with some granny square patterns but was hoping to find a bunch of free patterns on ravelry.

I'd love to do a scrappy granny square afghan - with differently design blocks. If you have any different granny patterns, I'd love to see them. The Big Book of Granny Squares - 365 patterns - sounds like a good book for this. Going to look at Half Price Books.

Sabrina What I did was track the temperature so if I got behind I'd have plenty of time to catch up. I only did one row each day unless behind. I think I will try out the square idea.

The Lion Brand yarn site has some really good patterns. I especially like the crocheted flowers.

Ok, here is what I'm thinking, I'll host a monthly crochet, one skein (or less) wonder. Everyone can choose any project they would like to complete and share the only rule is it can't use more than one skein. BUT I will also post some patterns (free) that I'm planning to work on. I will post at least a granny square or two and something else. The something else might be amigurumi, might be thread crochet of some sort....and I will tell you what I plan to make for my regular "one skien wonder." You can choose to do one of these projects if you need some inspiration or would like to work on a granny square afghan with me or you can ignore them and do your own thing!! The idea is to try some new patterns that are quick, easy, and inexpensive AND (at least for me) give me a chance to use up some of my stash!

How does that sound?

This is tough! I would like to mix the categories so that I could learn to do new things but I do have projects already that need to be done so picking my own project would great. So in the end I would be up for anything!
