I'm thrilled! We bought a 23' 2005 Winnebago Aspect last week. We haven't taken delivery yet, but we're getting our property ready so we have a place to park it. It's in beautiful shape except for faded dinette and sofa cushions. Once those are replaced, she'll be perfect. And then I can start decorating her and adding my own touches.

The very FIRST thing I did? I joined Sisters on the Fly. I'm SUPER excited about this because I've wanted to be a part of SOTF forever! I have admired these ladies from afar since 2010 or so but I never joined because I wanted my own rig. If you're part of SOTF, please let me know so that I can add you as a "friend."

Anyway, this is Gracie Rides Again. (Read here for the story of how she got her name: https://14thandoak.com/2017/10/19/gracie-rides-again/).

Congrats, Rachel!

That is SO exciting! We have had our MH for about four or five years now, but we are hoping to sell it soon and get a fifth wheel (still have 2 kids at home). Travel is so much fun and it is GREAT to have your own little place to come home to! Plus, with a class C, they can fit in smaller spaces, too!

Nancy, you will be really close to me when you do move! The Tyler area is growing by leaps and bounds. That's where I grocery shop. :D

Nancy and Grace -

I went to a SOTF event yesterday and the women were wonderful. It was a small group, and they shared that there are several groups out there that are very "clickish" but that they (the WA SOTF ladies) tried very hard not to be that way. I had a really great time and am excited about these opportunities I just want a chance to make more friends and expand my horizons.

Oh Nancy,,, like so many 'groups', both large and small... there will always be a 'jr high' mentality and drama and politics... lol!
I am to old to bother nor let it bug me,,, I just amble on my merry little way and just enjoy being with the gals I like...
I have seen gals come and go because of politics,,, sadly,, but it is their right,,, and I fully understand.
I have been fortunate to meet some of the most loveliest ladies whom I call "friends"... sadly I just had to say Good bye to one very lovely SOTF sister,,, who passed away most unexpectedly from an 'annurisim'(sp)... but I am so grateful to have met her and been wonderful friends with her... and I owe it to the SOTF group.
Tears of sadness, tears of joy...

Hi Grace,
I know about the one near me. Heard it has politics from ladies in the area so I haven't contacted them.

The SOTF. Site used to be more accessible in the past. I read an entry by the local leader saying how she didn't like Sisters on the "Try".
Their dues is kinda high compared to other groups. I don't blame folks wanting to see if the local group is the kind of people they want to be with before paying the dues. That may have prompted the site to go private.

For the leader to put her annoyance on the site told me they weren't for me but I am sure the SOTF have other groups that fun and wonderful.

In fact there is a group around the Temucula area in CA..

The PNW, (OR..WA.. ID...) also has a large group...

Rachel ... I spotted you friend require... but my time ran out (@ the library) on the computer and I lost everything I was working on... can you send me another friend request?

Nancy, there are hundreds and hundreds of women (like, over 700) registered in Texas, and I did a search of just Tyler along and there were some hits. I have a feeling the East Texas region has a LOT of SOTF women! You'd be in good company.

Hi Rachel
We are planning to settle in East Texas around the Tyler area but that is still a year or better away.

Hi, Nancy. Where are you planning to live? I can look it up for you.

SOTF is divided by region, and then there are often smaller groups within that region. For example, I'm part of the Pacific Northwest region, but I belong to the SOTF FB page for Washington Sisters on the Fly.

Hi Rachel
I went to the SOTF website but not being a member I couldn't see if there are chapters where we are planning to live.

I don't want to join if there isn't a local chapter.

I'm excited for you! The SOTF group sure sounds like fun. Found them before the sisterhood. Your motorhome looks wonderful. Fun, fun, fun!

Nancy, I hope you do decide to join! I don't know how active I'll get to be, but I sure am excited about it!
Grace, look for a SOTF "friend" request from me!
Dawn, thank you!
Sherone, shopping for a motorhome is SO. MUCH. FUN! We looked at so many of them before we decided to buy a used one and not invest $100k in a new one our first time out. We wanted a Class B, but I hate wet baths. What we ended up with is a Class B+, although Winnebago considers it a C. I wanted as small as possible but to still have the comforts of home. Good luck on the shopping!

Oh lucky you, Rachel! My husband and I are looking at Class C motor homes right now. Please come back and tell us what you think about your trips in it. I am anxious to hear your impressions.

I am a SOTF... since 2006
I am #472
the gals here in the INW just spent the weekend camping out and showing off their camping rigs (trailers, motorhomes)..at Cabelas.
We gals over here meet up once a month for dinner.
When I was living in Central CA., we would meet once a month, usually on a Sat for lunch.
I use to host 'trailer slumber parties' on my property... and for 5 years straight I hosted the 'Sisters on the fly shop Farm Chicks'.. which was held the 1st weekend in June. So we would camp at the river and shop the Farm chick craft & collectable show at the Spokane Fairgrounds.
Also every year there is a huge gathering that rotates from Oregon/WA/ID. Called the NorthWest Gathering...
there are a gazillion events and gatherings..
So, Welcome to SOTF.

Congratulations Rachel. I heard of SOTF before I heard of the Sisterhood. I want to join once I am retired. I hear they have workshop weekends to learn such things as dutch oven cooking.
