Tropical storm/Hurricane Harvey is gaining strength. He will slam into the coast of Texas tonight/Friday, August 25,2017.
Please remember Laurie Scott, who lives in Alvin, Texas; Betty Hoffman in Goodrich, Texas; Kelly O'Neal in Pipe Creek, Texas and Jami Bolton in New Caney, Texas. They may all be getting very heavy rain, up to two feet in some areas. Since some of our coastal region is at or just below sea level...
I put these names in because they have been in some of our swaps. I am sure more need prayers.
Those of us in North central Texas will get rain (we had 3/4" very early this morning) but it will come as the outer bands move our way.

Love the idea.. how can we find out who may need new supplies and when they are in a position to accept them?

Sherrilyn, Love the idea of passing on supplies. Anything to provide comfort in these sad, sad times is great.

Praying for those in Southeast Texas.

You are all so sweet. Sherrilyn, what a neat idea. I always think of necessities...but you are right, we Crafters need supplies too. Today I made contact with Betty Hoffman, farmgirl sister from Goodrich, Texas. She lives north of Jamie, a good ways, but they have had more than enough rain also. She is ok, trying to help others. Marlee Cryar over in Deridder, Louisiana is ok, but probably by now has way more rain than needed. I saw on Facebook that Laurie Scott in Alvin, Texas was pulling up carpet and other flooring. So that means their home had water inside. Kelly, how did you and your family and your business come out???
We all seem to love coastal areas, and they are beautiful and different. I am thankful today that I am landlocked. Our little towns park has flooded three times in the last year, but it goes down, drained away by two rivers. I can not even imagine what those folks have endured and still must endure. One official said it may be October before Houston is dry. Please continue to remember to pray for them. Thanks.

I know that of all the things you might lose in the storm, craft supplies should be the least of your worries, but for many of us that is not true. Our crafts are our mental lifeline. Crafting gives us a quiet space to think, solve problems, organize ideas, and even pray.

As the water subsides and you are able to take stock of the damages and losses in and around you, please don't forget to take care of yourself as well. Let us know what kinds of supplies you need to re-feather your nest as it were. If there are any ways we can help, please let us know.

In Stitches,
Sherri

I'm sorry, I posted this, and got busy. I have been messaging with Jamie Bolton, in New Caney, Texas since Thursday. I cannot fathom water up to the hanging red lights at intersections, or street signs under water. Water up to the tops of
The tops of windows of homes. It is just crazy. One hospital had to be evacuated yesterday because water got inside. Today MD Anderson has water on the second floor.
Jamie's DIL is an RN at another hospital and has been there and cannot leave. Their son and grand daughter are with them. She says their house is dry, good drainage but it continues to rain. Pray for these folks. Houston is just barely above sea level. I asked Jamie if they would try to leave. She said no, too much water on the roads.
