We have a lot of different weeds on our property and it's impossible to deal with all of them for various reasons.
I do, however, try to keep the thistles under control. My dad taught me long ago that all you have to do is dig just below the surface of the dirt and severe them. And it works! But you do have to keep at it for any new ones that come up. I've also learned that you can go snip flower heads off before they turn white and start spreading.

I kinda got behind with my daughter coming and spending a week glamping with her. Sooooo, that means some heads had to be snipped. So off we went with clippers, gloves, bucket, etc.

We also have a lot of cheet grass, foxtails and horsehound, all of which have things they deposit . . . in your shoes, socks, gloves, pants, etc. etc. When we were done I had some many things stuck in my shoes I said in the trash they go . . not going to pick that stuff out.

This pic doesn't really show ALL of the stuff stuck all around . . .every painful to walk!

Weeds, weeds, weeds! And, we regularly have LOTS and LOTS of stinging insects . . wasps, hornets of every description. I hang traps that help a lot. I spray the nests . . . but they are a HUGE problem here! Down in the cow pasture we battle deer flies . . . their bite is awful and ITCHY!!!!! Mosquitos too! UGH! UGH!
We just came in off the deck because of the skeeters! Just when it cools off enough then those nasty things come out.

Because of our warm and wet climate, weeds are King down here! It feels like there are always more weeds that plants that you want. Plus with the weeds comes a big serving of mosquitoes, no see-ums, chiggers, and other biting bees and whatever!

Hi CeeJay,

We have more weeds in the state of Connecticut! It's crazy how weedy it gets here. I can't believe your shoes! Wow! I battle the plantains here in my yard. They are hardy little buggers.

I truly dislike when that happens! I battle thistles and my nemesis, burdock. Hubby's calves get out, load up on burdock then go happily planting it wherever they go :(. It is that time of year to start cutting them off at the root.
