LOL!,, with out realizing it,,, I have been in 'apron mode' for a month,,,
I have finally finished up yet another Cobbler style apron and 2 repurposed aprons,,,

this is the latest cobbler apron,,, I just luv the big pockets...big enough for egg gathering or gardening or cleaning house...

this one is from 2 sheer cafe' curtains... I layered them with the top one being shorter in length,,,, the perfect Hostess/party apron... I remember my mother wearing sheer/chiffon type aprons while hosting Coffee Clatch...(Koffee Klatch)...

and this is another pillowcase apron...
Sew easy to make aprons from cade' curtains and pillowcases...
Now to get to work on my mini party aprons for the mini apron swap hosted by Quiltee...

Grace, I'm glad you shared the story behind the dress. I was going to ask about it. It's a very beautiful dress. I am in love with your lace and green apron. Reminds me a lot of what I like in fashion as far as colors and style. I will have to remember yours when I attempt to make me one.

I love hearing stories of all of your grandmothers!!! <3 My grandmother that I was closest to was Irish and Cherokee Indian - what a combination! She was a fiery woman that worked hard all her life! I miss her so much! I don't remember her cooking or baking... but I do remember her flower gardens <3

Grace - I absolutely love your mom's wedding dress and that apron is beyond adorable! I don't normally wear half aprons, as they don't do me much good (i'm too top heavy), but I would love to one day own an apron that looks like that!!! It is gorgeous!

Grace , what a sweet and lovely combination you have with your Mother's original wedding dress and your cute lacy apron! The apron is just perfect with that dress and a really neat idea that you had to use an old lace curtain too!

Speaking of little Grandmothers, mine was a German immigrant and stood all of 4 feet 11 inches and had blond hair down to her waist that she kept up in a bun. My Grandmother could sew beautifully and fire up that wood burning stove and make fantastic tart cherry pies from the cherries in her backyard. Yummy!!

Aww, what a sweet dress and apron! I don't think I was ever a size 4. German is my heritage also. Boy, could my Grammy cook and bake! We would eat her bread as soon as it came out of the oven, butter dripping all over that hot bread! Yummy! I cook and bake like her too. I also eat it! Yikes! Therefore not a size 4! LOL!

this is my mothers wedding dress,,, she was like a size 4,,, itty bitty...all 5' of her...
She was not an American citizen,,(so they got married twice to make it legal in both countries), so she got to wear this dress twice. She and dad married once at the local (German) Court house and then a year later they were married at a Military Chapel on Base...
3 years later when we came to the US mama got her Citizenship and I got to become a naturalized Citizen...

I so love this dress and am so glad mama gave it to me for my vintage clothing collection.
So as you can see,, the apron is almost to big for my mama's dress...it wraps all the way around... wish I was that tiny!

this is an apron I made from a Thrift store lace curtain... I made it about 7 years ago...
I simply folded the curtain in almost half,, I let the top piece be shorter than the back/under piece. I wove 1/4" ribbon through the hem and added yoyos.. I used the same fabric for the waist and ties.

Hi Kat, I sure do love those aprons. My favorite is the cobbler one, because I tend to be sloppy, need full coverage.

Kat,, do you think this panel would make a cute apron? If so, I will have to add new curtains for my crafting coop on the list as well. LOL! LOL! LOL!

Hi Kat my farmsister pea in the pod!
You have so many wonderful ideas for making aprons and your aprons are beautiful!
I never thought about making one out of lace panels. Thanks for the idea! I have plenty of lace curtains in my home. Now to talk my hubby aka Farmbrother "Big Buzz" into buying some new curtains. Might need some new kitchen cutains also. LOL!

Oh Skip (hubbys real name),, I know you would like some new curtains in the family room to match up with your golf motif, let's go and try to find some. We might as well replace kitchen curtains while we are at it.

Wish me luck Kat! I could have new cutains and a new apron before dark today!

And don't rule out lacey curtains... they also re-purpose into cut 1/2 aprons!
