I saw at the end of April that it was the 87th anniversary of the first publishing of the first Nancy Drew Mystery, "The Secret of the Old Clock".
I have a copy of that book so I checked the copyright which was 1959.

On a recent visit from my hubby's brother and his wife we had gone to a used book store and I learned the my BIL is "kind of" collecting Zane Grey books. I told then I was "kind of" collection Nancy Drew mysteries. I loved then as a teenager and my sister-in-law said she did too.

Today I received a package from my SIL and, lo and behold, it an ORIGINAL copyright date of 1930 of "The Secret of The Old Clock" book.
A previous owner had drawn pencil sketches inside the back cover on some blank pages (I'm sure making a difference on it's value as an antique book) but they are kind of fun.

I am tickled all shades of pink!!

So cool. I also loved Nancy Drew as a child. I got my granddaughter one last year, but she's not much into reading books.

I loved the Nancy Drew series. I discovered them when I was a kid and read every one that was published until I got to high school. Even then I would reread them. Enjoy your original copy, it is a real treasure!

Oh wow! I think the drawings add a lot of charm. I read maybe three Nancy Drew books as a kid and The Secret of the Old Clock is one I still have for sure. It isn't an original. It was from a mail order book club and is quite common.
