Oh yah... she was the best and most expensive dressed Barbie in the housing unit (military housing).
Lol!
To this day, I cringe when I look at the price of real a 'Shammy'...
lol!

Grace,
Thats so funny! I can imagine your father was not happy, but kids do those kinds of things! I'm sure Barbie did look fabulous in her suede coat!

Oh speaking of Barbies.... I found a lovely piece of'leather' in my dad' car was supplies... so I cut it cup and stitched it to make a very fashionable coat for my Barbie.....
To my dad's horror, I had cut up his brand new and somewhat costly 'shammie seude' cloth....
I am surprised I made it to the age of 11.... lol! Thank goodness a father's love is stronger then his anger.... lol!
and btw, Barbie looked stunning in her seude coat....

OMG!! My sister and I had that exact doll house! We loved it!. I'm hoping someday I will find one at a yard sale or vintage shop. We loved that all house! Too bad Barbie was too big for it but we still had a blast making bed spreads for it and rugs out of Mom's fabric scraps. Thanks for the blast from the past!

How Adorable!!! I want one, too!!!!!! I'm like you Deb...wanted one as a child, but was never listed as a needful thing according to my sweet mom who lived during the depression and was queen of practicality!! That must have skipped my genes, cause I have to rein myself in from all the cute "non-needful" items we find everywhere!! I know what I will be looking for at my next estate sale or thrift store run!!

You can never be too kind!

Deb... oh if only I could get my DH to make me one... but bless his heart... he would over think it and it would take 10 years!!!
Lolol!

Here we are again,, "two peas in a pod." Anyone else want to come into our pod? LOL!
I love those 3 story high Victorian doll houses. Hobby Lobby has them. Way out of my budget. LOL!
So much fun to dream. I believe dreams are little tidbits of God's love, letting us know that there
is still and always will be hope.

Maybe we should call upon those fellows who build those tiny houses. LOL! Maybe they could build us a doll house. You know it would be beautiful!!!!!!
I love those tiny house shows on TV. Amazing how much storage they can build into one. Would be great to have a tiny house as a sewing and craft house. Whoohoo!!! You could take it wearever you go. LOVE IT!!!! Need to find brother Big Buzz and have a little conversation. LOL! "Oh my wonderful hubby, I know how you can have my crafting coop for your golf collections. Oh Brother Big Buzz where art thou?
Hmmm, no answer, he must be outside mowing. Be back in a while. LOL!

Deb... oh you are a hoot!!! I hope your frying skillet's feeling were not hurt after those 'choice words!'..lol!

I so remember the painted/printed metal doll houses,,, because Daddy was career Army and we moved every 2 years.. we didn't amass much in the way of posessions.... so I too never had a doll house,,, not even the cardboard Barbie mansion,,,lol! for me it was what ever large shoe box or larger box was available a pair of scissors and a box of crayons, a jar of paste and magazine pages (for the flowers and what ever else would look cute glued to the inside or outside)...
From the time I was 10,,, I had a Barbie and a Barbie case crammed with bought and hand made Barbie clothes... she was my traveling companion, but oh how I wanted one of those lovely 3 story Victorian doll houses with all the exquisite furnishings... now I just get 'sticker shock' when I look at the doll house kits at the craft stores... lol!
and at my age,,, I can think of other things I'd rather doo with that money,,, altho' it would be nice to have a display cabinet for my Madame Alexander doll collection!lol!
Oh the lil girl in me,,, never stops dreaming...

Grace,, We are a pair! LOL!

When I was a little girl, all my friends had
doll houses. I never did. Sure, I wanted one,
but it was never in the family budget. Now here I am 64 years young, and still wanting a doll house. LOL! What to do? What to do? LOL!
I had one friend who had a metal doll house. It came all pre-painted up. The outside was really pretty. It was painted to look like a brick sidewalk in the front. I thought that was just the coolest thing on earth. To this day I love brick patio's, walkways and roadways. We still have two or three roads in the Muncie downtown area that brick. I sooooo love them. My dream now is to have a doll house that looks really country.

I would try to build one, but I am kind of partial to all of my fingers. LOL!

By the way, please say a little prayer for my left big toe. Removing my 14 inch iron skillet from the cabinet became airborne and bang! It fell on top of my big toe. OUCH! I don't believe it is broken, but it is pretty banged up. I was wearing little fuzzy footies, no shoes. Felt the impact big time. Now Farmsisters, please don't be worrying about the skillet. It is fine. No damage was done. Lol! Well to be honest I did call it a name.."Iron Idiot." Do you think that was to harsh? LOL!

Love ya!
Hope you are having a very blessed Sunday!

Grace, If I paint my front door to look like a suitcase, will you come decorate my house for me. That suitcase is just way to stinkin cute!
I would just love to get inside peoples creative minds and see what all goes on. LOL! The creativity that people have is astounding!!

Thanks for sharing. If it be okay with you, I may have to borrow your idea and make one for my granddaughter. Okay, Okay, and one for myself.
Well why not? LOL! I think it would be super cute to paint one up like a red barn and put little farm animals in it. You could even make a little clothesline and hang mini aprons on. Somebody stop my thinking.. I am suppose to be figuring out a little snack to make for the DH. LOL!

Have a great evening!

I don't collect suitcases or train cases, but I love the idea of repurposing items. Grace, your doll house is so cute!

Oh I love it! I collect vintage suitcases and train cases, too. I use them for storing yarn and craft projects.

http://www.farmgirlbloggers.com/5570#more-5570

That's a blog I previously wrote about vintage luggage.

I pretty much have stopped picking it up because I don't have much room for any more, but love what i have. I thought about making a repurposed chihuahua bed out of one of my suitcases.

Grace, That is what I use mine for. Storing linens. They work great for those and I tuck a little sachet in here and there to make everything smell good.

oh to get my hands on a stash of these, as if I need more! lol!!

I actually have a 3pc set of the blue ones on the right,, the train case,, small and medium luggage... Occassionally I use them as deco outside my trailer.
I also have the round beige hat box and I have a large 'green' hard sided Samsonite both of which I use for storing vtg linens.

wall mount 'cabinets',
porta-coffee/wine bars...
and even as a chalk board to be set outside by a vtg. trailer..
Oh so cute!
