Posted - Mar 24 2017 : 9:17:57 PM I had to sneak out to the Post today,,, and spotted a yard sale sign en-route... even tho' it was drizzly out,,, So glad I stopped in... lookie what I scored!!! and for only $3 ea!!!!
These are going to be fun to use for decorating one of my trailers!
The boots are by 'Pandhandle Slim' ... I haven't decided yet if I will make another 'boot top purse' with one of the boots and maybe a birdhouse with the other boot..
The velvet Marahracchi (sp) hat is very bright red and gold,,, sorry my camera doesn't take great photos...

Posted - Mar 27 2017 : 09:15:48 AM Linda... I use an awl, leather hole poker thingie... poke the holes across the bottom... then I use leather (like a shoelace) strip and do a blanket stitch... and then I attach dangly geads and faux turquoise and coral stones...

Posted - Mar 27 2017 : 07:19:21 AM How do you sew the bottom of a boot purse? I don't think even my treadles would sew through the thicknesses of leather?
Never heard of El Paso Trading Company. I'll lok it up.

Posted - Mar 26 2017 : 8:43:06 PM We have a western wear chain here called 'Boot Barn'... luv their stuff but not their prices... The boots I scored for $3 are a size 6 1/2B... So I cant wear them... I may use them for deco or like I said... cut one up to make a small tote/purse... I made a couple about 5-6 years ago... sold them right away at a camping venue... I paid $9 for the boots, wore them for a year then split the sole so I did what any red blooded crafter would do.. made 2 purses from them....and sold them for $20 each.. Not bad, $40 for a $9 investment... not including the beads I used from a broken necklace...to trim out the purse.

Posted - Mar 26 2017 : 5:39:48 PM Love your finds, Grace. You have the best luck at yard sales up where you live. I'd love to find some cowgirl boots sometime - I can't even find any in stores that fit me without hurting.
