Posted - Mar 11 2017 : 06:50:39 AM DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS!! Set your clocks forward one hour.
Did you know that Daylight Savings Time began in 1918 as a way to conserve fuel for WWI efforts? I had no idea. Here is a poster from that historic moment in our country's history.

Posted - Mar 16 2017 : 6:40:35 PM Winnie,
I do love the vintage poster too :-)
AND i am glad to hear so many others are frustrated by this tradition! Each time i rant and rave about this change and my poor husband has to bear the brunt of it. In some ways its so surprising how 1 hour can make such a difference! I do like that it stays light later, but it would do that anyway as summer approaches! Oh well, just glad spring is around the corner :-)

Posted - Mar 16 2017 : 2:47:00 PM Krista, I can't begin to describe how difficult this is for us. It takes a lot longer than a week . . or two . . for us to "get there".
And, our cows are being fed on the same schedule they were according to the sun, not the clock! CJ

Posted - Mar 16 2017 : 12:01:24 PM Almost a week later and my household is still struggling with daylight savings. Both of my boys inner clocks are struggling with new nap times and a new bed time. I wish we could do away with daylight savings.

Posted - Mar 13 2017 : 6:07:32 PM i always feel sorry for the farm animals and the farmers. Up north here it is good to have another hour of daylight but it surely confuses the animals.

Posted - Mar 12 2017 : 6:41:19 PM I forgot to change any of my clocks last night. I left the house at 9 (10) and coming back to the house an hour later the car was saying it was 11 and I wondered how I came up an hour short until I remembered that I hadn't changed even one clock.

Posted - Mar 12 2017 : 4:15:58 PM Jana, They've been telling us for years it was for farmers . . . 'taint so! My dad was a farmer and he hated it. He said it wasn't going to help him AT ALL because his livestock, crops, orchards, etc. would be doing what they do with the sun, rain, etc. He had to do his farm work accordingly! CJ

Posted - Mar 11 2017 : 7:09:05 PM Wait, what? I thought daylight savings was for farmers. I agree...let's just cancel the whole thing.

Posted - Mar 11 2017 : 1:23:45 PM Here-Here...I think the whole changing clocks thing should have been stopped years ago. As we age most of us don't need to be getting older-younger-older-younger..... just leave the natural process alone already, will ya?/! *sheesh* ...We'll get there on our own... at our own pace! *giggle*

Posted - Mar 11 2017 : 09:59:20 AM I agree with you, CeeJay! Having worked with disabled children and adults with dementia I just wish we did not have this change.
I love the vintage posters though, Winnie!

Posted - Mar 11 2017 : 07:16:01 AM I remember, but my hubby and I do NOT like DST! As parents of a disabled adult son and our involvement with many disabled folks, we've learned that this time change stuff is VERY DIFFICULT for them to adjust to . . . for body "clocks", medication and therapy routines, etc., etc. It also makes no difference to our cows or our garden! Anyway, we try to do our best and not get too grumpy about it! CJ
