Posted - Feb 15 2017 : 5:39:53 PM I came across this photo of this cute quilted table topper adorned with yoyos!!! It was posted in the on-line quilt shop of "The Barn Chick" in Reardon, WA. I really need to think about making one of these... goodness knows I have a gazillion yoyos!
hmmmm,,, one of my dear MJF gal pals could surprise me with this... or I could buy a Lotto ticket and win a gazillion dollars and pay someone to make this ... or I could just buckle down and make my own....

Posted - Apr 24 2018 : 6:01:30 PM Thank you! The yo-yos have been keeping the sewing group busy. We are also working on dresses for Dress A Girl Around the World and small pillows we call healing pillows, they receive a blessing before being delivered to the local hospitals. The dresses are also blessed before they are mailed off to the regional office.

Greetings! Sharing that the yo-yo project the Sewing Ministry at church is working on is making great progress. I have been able to stitch together about 1/3 of the 1,400+ yo-yo's we have made. The section in the photo is four folds of yo-yo's.

Posted - Feb 18 2018 : 11:15:11 AM Beautiful table runner, Grace! You should think of a fun way to use some of your ready made yo-yos too. If you get inspired to make something, be sure to post us a photo of what you came up with. Inquiring minds want to know!! LOL!!

Posted - Feb 17 2018 : 6:22:48 PM Thank you for the welcome greeting Judith. I have the book, would you like to exchange e-mail addresses? I was looking through the book last night and again this evening. I really love Kim's patterns as well as Thimbleberries! Snowing tonight so I'm enjoying time in my sewing room before shoveling in the morning. Good thing the temps are expected to be a little above normal the next few days, so this snow should melt quickly!

Posted - Feb 16 2018 : 6:17:04 PM Greetings! As a new Farmgirl, I am reading lots of posts to get up to speed! The runner in the photo is Tulips and Tossed Greens by Kim Diehl and is featured in her book Simple Seasons! Kim was a guest at the quilt guild I am a member of in 2013! I love Kim's patterns and she is a super person. My list of 'to make' from Kim's books includes this runner. I also love yo-yos. The Sewing Ministry at church is currently making a twin size yo-yo coverlet as a fundraiser. We are using plastic yo-yo makers so all yo-yos turn out the same size. We are using a double thread since yo-yos are fragile! I find yo-yos are a great take along project for the car or waiting for appointments. Happy sewing! Gae Framgirl #7534 |

Posted - Feb 21 2017 : 12:59:38 PM What a gorgeous table runner! My mom made a bedspread from yo-yos for a twin size bed that my sister owns. I can't imagine how long it too her to make it either!!

Posted - Feb 17 2017 : 09:41:13 AM I have been looking at this topper off and on to see how I could modify it to my skills... I am not a big fan of crewl or applq.... and I don't have a Long Arm machine..... soooo or should I say "sew ".... I was thinking, (don't laugh), what if I bought a floral print fabric for the boarder and embellish it with a few yoyos and then maybe I could buy the pre-quilted top (usually is in a diamond quilt) in solid color and then repeat the yoyo pattern like in the photo.... hmmmm Next time I drive down the mountain (in about 5-6 day when the rains subside) I will pop into the Joann's store and see what they have for pre-quilted fabric and floral, altho I have stacks of floral so I will dig through my stash first...
Hopefully this won't fall into my UFO pile!!! Lol!

Posted - Feb 16 2017 : 11:48:26 AM Oh Grace, that table topper reminds me of my grandmother! If I was super talented I would make one for you! I know the feeling. I have come across a couple blankets that I know I just have to have but would take me years to make. So I keep telling myself that one day I will pay someone here to make it for me!
