I have a question on the hummingbird cake recipe that was posted by MBA Jane...
can the amount of sugar be reduced? I'd like to make it, but we are trying to cut out most added sugar and if I cut down the sugar, I don't want the end result to suffer. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Ally,

We haven't tested a reduced-sugar version of this recipe, but if you were to cut the sugar in half, I would suggest adding 1/3 cup pineapple juice to make up for the loss of liquid in your batter (since sugar dissolves and turns into a liquid when mixed with other wet ingredients). An added bonus is that pineapple juice is naturally sweet, so you will likely not notice the reduction in sugar.

I hope this is helpful,
