Posted - Aug 27 2016 : 1:05:26 PM Ok,,, this is the 1st time in well over a decade that I have not had a garden to boast about let alone enough to do much with... I guess I just needed a year off,,, so I limited myself to cucs, maters, taters, strawberries, and struggling cantalope vine... My plum tree went crazy but my almonds were gotten to before I could.. oh well... I transplanted 3 fig trees and 2 of the 3 are doing great.... But I am not sad,,, because 'Farmers Markets' are abundant in our county from the flat farm lands to the foothills and even up to the mountains... Plus I have family (my dad's side) of farmers who grow (raisin) grapes, Almonds and pistashios... and my childhood friend, Karen, who is the neighboring farm lands,,,, has an abundance of grapefruit, lemon, orange, pommegranit, pears and apples.. so I am not at a loss.... Harvest is in full swing now for the grapes,,, and next month it will be the almonds,, October I will be helping with the pommegranit harvest over at Karen's... Ahhh Liquid Gold and an abundance of love...
fresh picked grapes... yum!
1 grapefruit + 1 orange = a very happy me!
my A.M. liquid sunshine...
Now I can face the day with energy and a smile!

Posted - Sep 10 2016 : 8:34:53 PM Oh man... I am going to miss the citrus down there. Looks like you're having fun! I may need my hubby to build me a hothouse just for dwarf citrus plants. Nothing like driving past orchards with the windows down when all the trees are in bloom, though...
