Saw the Specialist on Wednesday, I do have RA in my eyes!
As well they found a cyst on my right eye and I have cataracts in both eyes. Also still have inflammation in my right eye. So, I am back on the Steroid drops for two weeks, then when I go back if the inflammation is cleared up we will discuss removing the cyst and cataracts. If my eye is still inflamed I will have to go on a more aggressive med in pill form to help clear it up. No surgery until the inflammation is cleared up. It is affecting my eye sight so I can not drive:-) I will take it day by day, it could be worse! And I can at least still knit!

I have been having a problem with my right eye for the last 2 months and have been seeing and eye specialist. First it was a viral infection and inflammation, the white part of my eye is swollen and full, feels like there is something in it and it is sensitive to light and it is painful. I have been on antibiotic drops and steroid drops. Found out last week they are all symptoms of RA, which bloodwork had showed I had the factor last year for but, my Rheumatologist could not find it anywhere in my body, other forms of arthritis but not RA. So, the Ophthalmologist found RA behind my right eye. Needless to say I was shocked as I had no idea it was possible. It is, rare but it does go to the eye. Troublesome for me I tell you, as the eye is really bothering me. If it is not better by the 19th of July when I go back to the eye doctor he will lance and drain my eye. Oh joy!
The procedure will just help relieve the swelling and inflammation but not the RA of course.

My question is this does anyone know of an herbal drop that will help relieve my symptoms. I have to also use preservative free eye drops for servere dry eye which is another symptom of RA every half hour.

There must be an Herblist Farmgirl out there that has heard of this.

Thank you for any advice or help you can give.

Hugs,
Deb

I have two spindles -- a top whorl and a tiny little turkish spindle. I tried the top whorl first, and it was kind of heavy and my singles kept breaking -- but I was a beginner, so who knows. Then I got my lovely little tiny turk -- just half an ounce -- and now I am spinning nice thin singles which I will ply together to make some yarn. I am having a ball with it!

You sound like like me Judith, I too have no coordination, thank goodness my friend has a lot of patience with me!
I must be a dummy I have not heard of a kick spindle, what is it? I also learned from my friend today what a Knitting Noddy is!
My hubby will make me ons out of PVC and wood so I can see which one I like better. Seems I learn something new about knitting everyday!

Deb, I have a drop spindle and a new kick spindle. I don't know how to use either one. I have the roving to learn on. Once I learn we should be able to do that by feel. So, I'd better get kicking. I just have no coordination.

You know Judith I do not know what I would do if I could not knit! I got new reading glasses to not only help with my reading but knitting and close up sewing work as well. Yes, my eyes hurt and get tired, when it gets too bad I quit!
Today a Farmgirl friend stopped by for a visit and she showed me how to spin with my drop spindle. I have been wanting to learn for so long, so hopefully I have it now, we will see!
Thank you all for your concern, support and Farmgirl Freindship, it means so much!

Thanks for the update, Deb! I, too, appreciate your positive outlook! But, then, what would be out alternative? Lying on the floor pounding, kicking and screaming? Somehow, I cannot picture you like that.
I don't know if I could knit with sore eyes...I can hardly knit as it is.

Deb I am so sorry you are going through this health challenge. You do inspire me with your positive outlook on life. Keep on knitting and smiling and may the Lord bless you with peace and healing.

I understand what it means not to be able to drive. On days when MS fatigue is heavy on me I do not drive. On good days I have been told by my doctor not to drive over 15 miles from home because I have to be able to drive home and any activity wears me down. It's a good thing I am a homebody at heart.

Hopefully if they have decided what the problem actually is, then the solution will be closer. Sounds like your attitude is staying positive, which is probably the best medicine there is, anyway.

Hi Debbie,

How are you doing? I can not imagine having eye issues. I have ear issues and that drives me nuts at times (eczema)

As you might know I only use natural healing methods. When my eyes bother me like getting red and dry and itchy I spray Colloidal Silver in them and it works great. You can buy it already in the spray formula.

It does not burn and it actually feels soothing. My DD worked at a health food store for 5 years and she is the one who got me started with doing that.

I have been only using natural alternative medicine for the last 12 years. I have not taken a single RX drug or over the counter drug in the last 12 years.

I don't have migraines anymore. If I get pain I use natural products or homeopathic.

There are many homeopathic eye remedies that you can use. Find a good Alternative doctor in your area that uses a machine called: Zyto

It is FDA approved. Make sure they have been in business a long time. The visits cost around $100 to $300 depending on the doctor and length of the visit. It is worth every penny because they saved my life.

I also use the Bemer Bed you can check it out in my signature below. It speeds the healing through getting more oxygen in your body through PEMF.

Hope all is well with you or at least going in the right direction.

Hugs,
Marsha

Deb, you are so brave and strong and wise. Educating yourself about all aspects of this will be such a comfort as time progresses. You never know, you may find out about some new exciting treatment before your doctors do! I just hate that you are suffering, sister. I have had you on my since reading your first post, and I have been praying. Hopefully when you see the doctor on Friday he/she will be able to give you some sort of relief and encouragement in dealing with this. I'll be looking forward to hearing about it! In the meantime, I'm going to pray for your complete healing. Miracles happen every day! Hugs and love - Nini

Well the past couple of months has been a challenge for me, learning I have RA in my eyes dealing with and accepting it.
I saw the eye doctor Tuesday, the inflammation is better so the steroid eye drops are working which is great but the severe dry eye has been just annoying and affecting my eye sight. So, he put Punctual Plugs in the lower part of each eye to block one of my tear ducts to see if that will help. I was not sure about them at first having a foreign object in my eyes but I had already read about it and knew that if they worked it can big a big relief for me. So, we will see how it goes. I will keep you posted!

Friday I see my Rheumatologist who does not know yet that my eye doctor has found the RA in my eyes. I am hoping that a change in meds will help not only the pain but to keep the inflammation more under control.

Time will tell how a new procedure and new meds will work for my eyes. I will keep a positive attitude as I learn to adjust, handle and deal with this latest diagnosis. I am learning as much as I can about RA and what the future holds for me as far as my eye sight goes. Knowledge is a good thing!

Hugs,
Deb
