This one is called "Mommy Love Selfie"

First thank you CJ for the name Mommy Love.

This is Holly one of our 3 Doxies, now normally Holly is a Daddy's girl but this day she was Mommy's.

You see she had been out in really deep snow and when she came in the snow was covered in her long hair and she was crying to be held. I, Mommy was the only one around, so I wrapped her in a towel and sat in my rocker in front of the wood stove.

Of course being Mommy I was cooing and talking to her as she looked up at me so cute and I started snapping selfies with hubbys cell phone. I do not do selfies, just so you all know!

Out of the many I snapped this was the one! I posted it on Facebook and got lots of oohs and ahs. But, it was not until CJ posted "Oh, Mommy Love for sure", I thought merit badge and this one is special.

You see our little Holly is sick and a bit different than our other two Doxies. She was born with a liver shunt, normally they are caught early operated on no big deal. Well, Holly's was caught last year when she was 5, she has only 50% of her liver, which means none of her other organs are where they are suppose to be. She will be 6 in October, she is not only a miracle but very special to our family as she should not be alive right now, they normally do not survive this disease if not caught at birth. But, for some reason she did.

To us she has survived because she is loved, she is the happiest little doxie you have ever seen. She may die tomorrow or she could live another 6 years they do not know. What we do know is we have given her the best life we could, she is loved and she is happy.

The Liver Specialist at the big vet hospital and research center in Denver, Colorado just can not believe that she is still alive, he calls her a true miracle!

That is why I choose this picture as my first of the 20 I need for my merit badge. It is very special to me, it is Mommy Love!

Hugs,
Deb

What a touching story! I love hearing about miracles, especially with dogs! This picture really is mommy love. Congrats on starting your Beginner Level Shutterbug. I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures.
