Posted - Apr 27 2019 : 6:15:05 PM Hello ladies I am glad to see that you have a support page and I wanted to respond to Joan, I'm have gluten intolerance gastric inflammation and had to have a total hysterectomy due to fibroids at the age of 45. I'm a believer in you are what you eat. I'm not as good as I could be but rather I have bouts depending on so many things. Stress and diet are certainly the biggest contributers in my quality of life. I find going gluten free wasn't hard if I read lables and àm careful of condiments and additives in mixes. My grandmother used to say stay away from white food except for colliflower. Feel free to email me if you like and I will do my best to keep up with the posts here. Have a great Jubilee weekend!

Posted - Apr 14 2019 : 08:44:36 AM Hey farmsisters, so I wrote this question 2 years ago and found out I may have Celiac disease. I don't know much about this, but it runs in my family (first cousins).. I have been struggling my whole life with pain/IBS...PLUS I have thryoid disease since I was 13 yrs. old. It's very interesting doing research on all this. Anyway, my question is how many here have Celiac disease and how do you keep it undercontrol? Blessings to all.

Posted - Nov 01 2016 : 08:02:31 AM I am one of the fibro ladies, too! I am so happy for any of you who have found some relief! Some days are "diamond, some days are coal". Today is coal; but, I am up and moving. Yay, God! I have been diagnosed for 10 years and have probably had it since I was a teen. I have found some relief from the deep inside pain with Gabapentin. No, that doesn't work for everyone. I have started taking B12 for the fibro fog and sometimes forget to take it. (no joke). Stress seems to make the pain worse. It's difficult to take down-time when the family is at their neediest. Melody, I sincerely hope you find some relief! You are such a dear person!

Posted - Oct 31 2016 : 10:23:26 AM Deb, Melody and Teresa ... Is CBD the same as Cannabis Oil Capsules? I tried them and had no Fibro pain on the week I took them but found out that I am allergic to Cannabis. Some one told me that there is a purer form that might not bother me...is that what you are talking about? I would love to be able To feel that good again...but it swelled my tongue to the point I had to stop or not be able to swallow.
See, we can all learn from each other. Glad that CJ told me about this Thread.

Posted - Oct 30 2016 : 5:25:53 PM Oh yes Teresa, I have tried the low dose for my hubby, it did nothing for his pain. But, with that being said due to his Severe pain we are going to the highest dose of CBD as we know it will help, as we by have seen fabulous results for our friends. Just a thought on another option! It is very expensive but if will help my husband to relieve some or all his pain that he has had for years than it is well worth the expense. Plus if he can get off the pain drugs when it helps him, then we will find a way to pay for it!

Posted - Oct 30 2016 : 2:17:05 PM one suggestion you might try CBD oil tincture different from smoking "weed" it is the pure oil from the plant and has many medicinal benefits. you do not get the "High" I had fallen 3 times and damaged my left hand bad got some nerve damage lot of pain I got the CBD oil and got some relief and then was able to do the therapy I needed. I believe the oil helped It is legal in all 50 states. look it up on line. I know it helped the nerves in my hand and arm when I took it. I make it part of my daily supplement routine.

I am taking notes for my visit with the rheumatologist---I've heard of Lyrica. Just want something to take this blasted aching away-I've been using a heating pad all weekend long for deep shoulder pain. Taking Tylenol and Meloxicam and it's not doing a darn thing. Ugghhh. I let you know how the visit goes.

Posted - Oct 30 2016 : 2:00:05 PM Melody, I too have Fibromyalgia as well as my husband who has it much worst than I do. It can be quite debilitating at times, on the bad days we rest, thank goodness right now I have more good days, but not my hubby:-( We both take 300 mg a day of Lyrica with no side effects, it helps me more than hubby. But, my hubby is 100% disabled and he has many more diseases that also causes 24/7 pain! We also take another pain med with our Lyrica, it helps me fight through the pain better. Now I do know that some folks can not tolerate Lyrica and have bad side effects. And get this, Peggy who is an expert by the way on Fibromyalgia said she believed I had fibromyalgia long before I was finally diagnosed by my doctor! So, listen to my Dear Friend. Good Luck Mel and I hope you find the right treatment to help you.

Posted - Oct 30 2016 : 1:05:30 PM I have had diagnosed Fibro for 15 years. I have learned To live with next to no medication because all the Medications have far worse side effects than I was willing To risk! I have all over body Fibro with Chronic Fatigue and 3 different Arthritis. It seemed like a Life Sentence when I was First diagnosed but I (with God's help) have learned how To deal with it. I had to take Medical Disability but you can learn To live with more pain than you think you could ever possibly Endure!

Posted - Oct 29 2016 : 10:08:39 AM I will finally go in to see a rheumatologist on Monday to determine if I too, have fibromyalgia-We do not have the luxury of having a specialist here in town so it will be a good long drive. I have been subjected to a 'slew' of tests for the past 2-1/2 months because of chronic deep muscle/joint pain that I have been enduring for about 8-months and more-The aching never stops-day and night. It was determined two months ago that my Vit D is in the tank so my GP prescribed mega doses once a week and just this past week daily d as well. OTC pain medications do absolutely nothing for me-It is very frustrating and interferes with my daily activities greatly.
I'm not nervous about my visit--just a little anxious about 'breaking' in a new Dr. who doesn't know me as well as my GP. Besides, I will finally know what the heck is going on.

Posted - Sep 18 2016 : 1:39:49 PM Hi Joan, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia over 15 yrs ago. I have good days and bad, several things that help me are yoga/stretching and taking magnesium. Both were recommended by my neroligist. |

Posted - Sep 14 2016 : 6:28:56 PM Hi Joan. I also have fibromyalgia and endometriosis. I've struggled for years and am finally starting to get some control over the pain. Part of it was adjusting my expectations to a "new normal" and learning how much pain I can tolerate living with. Meeting with a therapist to work through some depression and anxiety I felt when I was diagnosed really made a difference for me early on. I've been very fortunate with being able to manage my symptoms by following a diet for autoimmune diseases and beginning Iyengar Yoga. It took years of trying different things and new medications to figure out what works for me (and some days even those things don't work). A lot of people have a hard time understanding what it's like to live with a chronic illness, it's wonderful to see such a supportive group of women here to talk about this disease and how we cope with it!

Posted - Sep 11 2016 : 11:41:14 AM I also have fibro, and I do not let it take over. I still try to do as much as I can. I just can not do things for as long as I used to. I have to give myself like one thing a day that I really need to get done besides the regular stuff. I too was finally glad to hear what it was I had. I had like ever symptom they say you can have with fibro and even my husband said, WOW, at least that explains things. I use a muscle relaxer ever night before bed. My muscles just do not want to relax on their own. I think the nerve endings they talk about that are always firing keep my muscles tense. So, it is much better when I take the muscle relaxer. although if I have over done, oh man does it hurt to force them to relax. So, I do what I can. Sometimes I can not tell if it the fibro or just that I am getting older, that I can not do like I used to. But, I keep plugging!! That's all you can do!

Posted - Jun 23 2016 : 1:48:31 PM I suffered with pain from Fibromyalgia for 30 years after acute muscle injuries in both shoulders. It finally is gone! How? Glad you asked. My alternative health doctor worked on my bowel health and got the good flora balance back and the pain went away. He said in his 40 years of practice the pain comes from the bacteria in the gut. He was right.
In addition to that he recommended I get the grounding mat also known as earthing. He also recommends PEMF therapy which speeds healing and improves circulation in the entire body with a short 8 minute session. I use it now myself and it is wonderful. Check out my website in my signature line for more details on this wonderful pill free therapy. I have watched every video on YouTube about this PEMF and Bemer Bed. It is eye opening for sure. Hope it helps you and you get relief soon.
I'm always open for private email conversations if you ever have more questions about alternative treatment options.

Posted - May 05 2016 : 6:59:51 PM I have heard a lecture by a nationally renowned doctor who strongly recommends a vegetarian diet. Preferably a well balanced Vegan diet for the autoimmune diseases. He also mentions that milk products have high inflammation reactions and to cut them all out. Also chicken and eggs (who knew??). Also are problems.
Now I'm not a vegetarian or vegan-- but there was enough really good research provided that I'm a believer. Do your own research, and decide what works for you. Meanwhile, I'm going to start working toward these same goals- and yes, there are several people in my family who have fibro---

Posted - Mar 01 2016 : 05:23:52 AM Joan - I'm not sure why the diagnosis scares you... For me, it was kinda a relief, just because I finally knew what my issue was ;) I very much live by the mindset that I will manage my fibromyalgia, and my fibromyalgia will NOT manage me! There are definitely days when it is worse... especially when storms are brewing or when I've done too much, especially when I'm pregnant. But for the most part, for me, it was just nice knowing WHY I hurt, tired, and didn't want to move! The other nice thing about the diagnosis was I had been seeing a chiropractor for years and there were always certain areas where she would push that I would leap out of my skin and tears would flow, but had no idea why as she kept telling me that nothing was out there... come to find out, she was pushing on trigger points that they use for diagnosing, lol. There are times my hubby still gets a couple of them when he is rubbing my lower back... oh the pain!
