Hi
this is so easy
I like my bathroom to smell nice
Its clean but you know how it can smell sometimes
so before I put a new roll of toilet tissue in I
put a few drops of essential oil (I use Lavender)
inside the cardboard tube before putting on the roller
give it a spin. I close the door and the room smells
wonderful and nice for days.

Bramble Berry is a great online resource for Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils - it is much less expensive than health food or variety stores. |

Hi Denise - I think I'm going to try Lemongrass for cleaning products -- because I prefer a fresh scent when cleaning. I know some have also tried Lavender, which I might try also, but not sure yet. I like the idea of the Tea Tree for spritzing on fresh towels to keep the mildewy smell at bay and I really like Mandarin and Eucalyptus too because they are refreshing scents. There are so many I like I will probably switch them up some until I decide what I like best. :) Have fun with it!

I saw Lavender and Lemon, thought they might be good.

Hi Denise,
It totally depends on how much you will use it and what you are using it for. I am careful to buy in small amounts so that I don't waste it. Since I tend to use a few types more than others, I buy larger bottles of the ones I use more frequently and only the dram size for those I don't use as often. It lasts about a year on the shelf. I would start with the smaller size and see how much you use. Once you have a better idea of how much you will be using, you can decide which size is better for you. Because there can be some sensitivity to EO's, be careful to research use of each type. Enjoy!! :)

Just wondering what size bottles you all prefer to buy your essential oils in? I looked online and they seem to range from .25 ounce to 16 ounces for some of them. Do you find you use a lot of it. I notice some recipes say 15 or 20 drops. Is that a lot?

Nice ideas. Do you all know how to make your own "poo-pouri"? You can put it in a little spray bottle or just let drops fall into the bowl. The EO in the mixture floats on the surface of the water and prevents nasty odors from rising. Here's one recipe:
Homemade Poo-Pourri
Small Spritzer Bottle (found in the toiletries aisle of supermarket)
15 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
15 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
10 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
8 oz water
Add essential oils to water, shake, pour into bottle. Spray onto surface of water in toilet bowl before sitting down.
Try other essential oil combos to suit your whim.
Put some in a 2oz bottle for your purse. |

Thanks Jody. There are a couple of health food stores about 30 minutes away that might carry them. Never thought to check them out. Maybe I'll give them a call first. Takes a little reminder like this to make me remember to do it.

I go to an apothecary or sometimes health food store like vitamin cottage.. don't know what you have out there but I prefer apothecary who make their own using good sources they know. I also have purchased on line from mountain rose herbs. I trust them.

Great ideas, ladies!! I have to try all. :) I spray my bed linen with essential oil linen spray, so why not the towels, too? And what about the shower curtains? Hmmm.... I totally like the Tea Tree oil idea for the mildewy issues that can creep around during those humid months (not that Colorado gets humid often, but it has been before). Now I'm thinking of a recipe for Tea Tree rinse in the washer? Wonder if there is one? Hmmmm... (again)... I've been bitten!

We spray our bath towels with tea tree oil (solution). Not only does it leave the bathroom smelling clean, the tea tree oil prevents the towels from being mildewy.

Really great idea! I also mist my bathroom rug with essential oil-based natural room spray. Also lasts longer than just misting the air.
