I would like to host a contest. The winner will get an adorable apron made from a denim skirt.

I have been painting the new addition, bedroom, and remodeled kitchen-dining area for a week. In the kitchen, there is a partition wall about 10 feet long and 2 feet high. It's where the old low ceiling height was transitioned into the new almost 10 foot ceiling height.

So this is the scoop.... I am looking for ideas of things I can paint on this area in my kitchen. The background is a lovely dark sage green and I want to put an oval about 2.5 feet wide by 1.5 feet high in an off white with something cool painted over it.

I have been looking at birdhouses, florals, gardens, general cute country type things, not fancy.

Send me pictures of your ideas, or links on the computer. If your idea is the one I decide on.... You get the apron and maybe a few suprises tucked in!

Deadline is Halloween.

Whaddya Think??

Ok ladies. Everyone who participated gets a prize. Tina Michelle will get the apron as I really like the idea of incorporating a version of our house in with the artwork.

Please send your address to ariggsby@comcast.net and expect a farmgirl surprise in the mail!

Thanks for playing along and helping me!

Time is almost up. Anymore decorating ideas- due before tomorrow evening at 1800!

I am so excited. I found 2 wing backed chairs at the local thrift shop today. They are in pretty good shape and are perfect for a little visiting area I plan to make once the rooms are switched around in the remodel area. Only 12.50 for one and 2.50 for the other, the furniture was 1/2 off!

Judging by your sig, you might like this idea- it's something I want to do as well. Stencil a Bible verse around the border- my favorite is Psalm 127- "Unless it is the Lord who builds the house, they labor in vain that build it." There are a TON of home and hearth verses in the Bible, if you don't like that one.

I don't know how to post pictures. I am going to TRY to figure that out tomorrow if I can get to it. I want to post a picture of the unfinished wall for inspiration and then the finished product.

Stenciling is a little "not-artsy" enough.... not sure if that says exactly what I meant. I am a tole painter kind of person who freehand painted vines and flowers around the top of the walls in the original living room.

I am liking the suggestions so far!

I've been doing exactly the same thing, 'cept I have to enclose the back porch, build a patio and paint the exterior I'll have to come up with something.
Just a thought...have you tried stenciling? it's kind of fun. I'm about to paper and trim the living room and paint the guest bath and computer room. LOT of work but so worth it in the end.
First thought off the top is 4 ovals with a representation of the four seasons, that would be cute.
You ARE going to share pics of it aren't you?

Wishing you joy in small things and peace in your heart

sent you an idea.
here it is again for others to maybe use in their homes as well...
what about a miniaturized "folk arty" version of your own home? think Warren Kimball style..but adding a few trees, and "farmgirly" it up by adding some chickens to the foreground, a sheep, a cow..you get the idea..but a miniature version of your own home.

Angie,

Sounds like fun! Is there a way you could post what the area looks like now?

Thanks
