Doing my last batch of basil right now.... then the last 6 tomatoes will go in the dehydrator for tomato powder.

Lisa: Let us know how the potatoes do. I would love to try that.

LOL Judith.
I always bring on the rain by filling all 3 clotheslines with clothes.

I received an extra big bunch of organic parsley in my veggie box last week so I chopped it up, put it on cookie sheets and put it in the car to dry. That worked as well as washing the car to bring on the rain so it's now in the oven with the light on.

Wonder if they used Herbs de Tejas in their special meal prep?
YellowRose Posted - Oct 14 2025 : 10:09:41 AM
Have a dab of basil, rosemary, and sweet marigram in the dehydrator. I like to have fun with my herbs so after the herbs are dried, I will ground them in my coffee (herb) grinder to make Herbs de Tejas a play on Herbs de Provence. Tejas was the Spanish name for Texas, from the Tejas Indians that lived alone the Texas coast and were cannibals. Oh, how I do ramble.

Drying sage today, left plenty to cook fresh with my beans. Sage can be strong, so I sauté the fresh sage in EVOO then remove it from the pot before adding one of my canned beans.

I dehydrated mushrooms this weekend. After I composted a brand new package that spoiled, I went and got more so I could dehydrate them and now I will have them on hand.

I've never tried it, but I'm curious to see how it goes. Sounds like it should work, but I think making milk powder sounds like it should work too LOL! Maybe try a small batch first.

So I have a new idea. I was just watching a Jacques Pepin video for potato leek soup and he used potato flakes. I am thinking of cooking potatoes, mashing and dehydrating on silicone sheets then buzzing up in the vitamix like I do annually with pumpkin/squash. Kind of like a dehydrated potato powder.
Has anyone done this?

Drying one bunch of organic kale today, good in winter soups & stews.

So far this summer I have dehydrated basil, zucchini for zucchini flour, rosemary, oregano, yarrow, tomatoes, peppers. Have more zucchini and tomatoes to do.

Thanks for the reminder to dry apples. I have plans for applesauce, but dehydrated apples are good in homemade granola cereal.

Today's good mood brought to you by a lot of coffee!!!

Sara, that sounds like a fun project. Im excited to see what your final creation is.

Yesterday I made a bunch of sun-dried tomatoes with all my cherry tomatoes. They are so delicious to snack on.

It's okay but I need more 'stuff' to make it really good. Thinking more citrus & woodsy notes. The Epsom salts does do a good job as a binder for the scents. The next time I order my groceries I'll get a bag of oranges to dry the peels as I eat the oranges.

I ended up with 1 1/2 cups of dried 'stuff' so 3 cups total with the Epsom salts. It's in a qt jar and will be ready after 9a.m. in the morning. Will let y'all know how it turns out.

Tara, great job on your drying. Enjoy using your basil salt.
