Posted - Nov 08 2018 : 4:03:12 PM As many of you have seen on today's news,, once again, a senceless shooting took place, this time in the community I grew up(high School)..
Sadly, Sgt. Ron Helus was fatally shot, as were 11 others. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, and First Responders.
'Ron' and I worked together for about 4 years in the Main Jail.. and he truly was a heck of a great guy, and he never shirked his responcibilites. One of the other fatalities was the son of my brother-n-laws childhood best friend. The Shooter actually lives/ed about 1/10 of a mile from my mom's house. It appears the Shooter took his own life.
Please don't post anything here, I just ask that you lift up the victims and their families in prayers. Pray for healing and forgiveness. Pray for the community to be supportive for the families.
I pray there will be no more senceless shootings.... Our Nation has had to many this year alone.
There will be a Candle Light Vigle this evening for the victims.

Posted - Nov 15 2018 : 09:16:38 AM My heart goes out to the community of Paradise,, imagaine,, an entire town obliterated in a matter of hours.
2017-2018,, The USA has endured such tragedies from Hurricanes, Tornados, Floods, Fires and horrible, scensless shootings.
I am sure most everyone of us here @ MJF have in some way, direct or indirectly have been affected.
Hopes and prayers that 2019 will be a year of calm and peace. A respite from the likes of all the tragedies we have had to endure.

Posted - Nov 09 2018 : 7:34:55 PM We have been checking in with some of our H.S. classmates,, several of them, their parents have lost their homes to the fire. My sister's mothr in law was on evac alert today,, but fortunately, the fire skirted by with out touching the housing tract that she lives in.
As for the shooter, he went to the same High School as I did. He posted on FB before the shooting, he was most certainly 5150.
Again, this is the worst devastation to hit Ventura county and surrounding L.A. county. in well over 60+ years... Please continue to wrap the community in prayers.

Posted - Nov 08 2018 : 7:02:10 PM Shortly after I posted the above... I was watching the news only to hear that the Santa Ana winds have flaired up and there is a massive wild fire burning through the NW side of Newbury Park(where I lived)... and not to far from my sister's house... we have Been on the phone non stop. So far, as long as the winds don't change directions...she is safe... but her friends are not so lucky, the friends grabbed their pets and paper work and are now in my sister's spare room. The community of Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park is reeling from the shooting and now this devastating fires. Please just keep the whole community in your prayers.
