Is anyone doing anything special for celebrating Jubilee this year??? It falls on May 6th and 7th. Here are some of the ideas from the main forum...

- Jubilee mini garden
- Mini apron bunting (there is a swap going on right now or you can make your own)
- Bring something baked to a neighbor, be it an apron wrapped around bread, or a bakeover takeover around a bakeover
- Possibly a hen/rooster theme

Any thoughts???

Shannon - I wish I could think of things like you!!! I keep thinking: What can I post/do to help our little group get more involved. I think it's so wonderful you have this gift, as I certainly don't.

I would love to participate in Jubilee...I'm doing the mini apron swap, and I LOVE the hen/rooster theme!! I always bring an apron wrapped around bread to a neighbour or friend each year around that time. What would the hen/rooster theme involve? Just meaning my apron would be made of hens, for example? I love hens/roosters. My kitchen is beginning to be decorated in them :) I'm trying to collect more things to fit in there :)

I think MaryJane usually picks the theme for the jubilee. I know the one year was an apron theme... and I don't remember last year, though many did make the egg collecting apron. If MJF as a whole goes with hens/roosters, I will probably make an apron out of that kind of material. I was thinking though... what if our group has a bakeover takeover swap. Obviously we cannot mail one another a Bakeover ;) but we could send everyone interested a recipe or two we have come up with. If we want to earn the intermediate level, we could send two, and expert level send 6. I can ask Brian if this would fly for earning the badges, since we are a virtual HenHouse. Thoughts???

That's a neat idea!! I wonder if we could send eachother the recipes - and then bake one to give to a friend or neighbour in need?

You could plan a jubilee at your house and have people over as well to try different bakeovers. Okay... before I get way in over my head, let me email Brian and see if he can give us some direction :)

I'm thinking....if we did a bakeover takeover swap....that could fulfill our badge requirement for making a takeover if we haven't already done ours?

I emailed Brian about the Bakeover Makeover badge requirements... The Bakeover Takeover I could not find, and finally found it under Sew Wonderful... I'm all about earning badges while doing a swap, hahahaha. Multitasking is a good thing as far as I am concerned ;)

We can swap bakeover recipes between ourselves to earn the BakeOver Makeover. I need to email him again regarding the "Sew Wonderful" Badge for the Bakeover Takeover.

Looks like making the Makeover Takeover and swapping them will work for that portion of the Expert Level of "Sew Wonderful." I'm thinking this will be the swap for April, as the Jubilee is the weekend of the 6th and 7th in May. Now to get a swap up for March. Thoughts?

We need to purchase the bakeover - right? The Bakeover means to sew an apron, wrap it around bread and give it to someone? Or am I confused?

OK...so we can exchange bakeover recipes for the INT and EXPERT levels for our Bakeover Makeover badge and if we make a Bakeover Takeover, we could exchange them as well, and that would work for the EXP level of the Sew Wonderful? I'm in! I've been trying to think of new bakeover recipes. I made a chili/cornbread bakeover last summer and Brad thought it was so weird to flip the dinner over upside down. I suppose you could just scoop it out of the pan if you want. Joyce, I think you can make bakeovers in a cast iron skillet...they're just a little heavier if you want to "flip" them over.

For the Bakeover Makeover Intermediate and Expert badges, we will be swapping Bakeover recipes... I plan on creating them and using them for the Beginner level, and then sending you the ones that work for the Intermediate and Expert. You CAN buy a Bakeover skillet from MaryJane... the 9 inch works for 4 servings and the 11 inch works for 6 servings, or just use a pan, like a wok, that you can flip. She says that a small cast iron skillet is able to be flipped, though it is much more narrow, but a larger one s too heavy. You can also buy one of the Budget mixes or Farmhouse cuisine mixes for it... or in the idea book, she has a recipe for a basic crust.

For the expert level of Sew Wonderful, PART of the requirements is to sew and give a Bakeover Takeover, which can be found in the Idea Book on page 234-235. For those interested, we can also exchange thse and get credit for that portion of the level. (The other part is to sew a set of your own hot pads and embroider them.)

I just had another thought... what if we did this as two separate swaps... for those interested in the recipes, we could send a copy to EVERYONE interested... much like we did the recipe swap that Joyce set up... and then those who wanted to make the Takeover as well, could do a swap with just one person???

That sounds good, Shsnnon. I'm still a bit confused...not sure why...I'll figure it out though. Maybe part of it is that I can't find where it lists the Jubilee badges. When do these need to be done by so I have a deadline in mind?

The Jubilee badges are totally separate Joyce... They are under Each Other - Farmgirl Jubilee. I will be doing the Intermediate for the Farmgirl Jubilee this year... not ready for the Expert/state-wide!!! Do you have the badges printed???

Each Other - Farmgirl Jubilee (#22)
Farm Kitchen - BakeOver MakeOver (#4) -
Stitching and Crafting - Sew Wonderful (#1)

I will set up a separate post for the swaps so we can keep discussing here what we are doing for the Jubilee :)

OK - sounds good. i do have them printed, so I will look over them. For some reason I thought they were a separate document.
